Each year, Kaiser Permanante Hawaiʻi employees and their families volunteer their time and skills to local non-profit organizations for their Annual Day of Service and Kalaeloa Heritage Park was honored to be selected again as one of those sites.

On January 16th, we hosted about 50 employees and their families. It was great seeing new and some familiar faces! The day began with a kāhea by Uncle Shad and tours of the park. Then, under the relentless heat of the ʻEwa sun, volunteers moved on to their tasks which included hand watering native plants, mulching kiawe, restoring the park trail, weed whacking, replacing signage, and planting pū hala. It was such a productive day and we are so thankful for the kōkua and the support from Kaiser Permanante Hawaiʻi!

Kaiser Volunteers take a tour of the park with Park Maintenance Manager, Kawika Lauriano.

Mahalo nui to our parks maintenance manager, Kawika Lauriano, for coordinating with the Kaiser folks. Mahalo hoʻi to our amazing park crew for showing up and guiding our volunteers with the tasks at hand.
